Michael Gertsch was elected Chief Executive Officer on 1st March 2011 after serving as the company's Chief Underwriting Officer since its establishment in 2008.  He has been employed in the insurance industry for over 20 years holding various treaty and facultative underwriting positions at General Re and Swiss Re UK before moving to PartnerRe in 1999 to lead their facultative property portfolio. He was responsible for re-defining a new strategic direction as well as establishing the respective processes and controls. Most recently, Michael held the position of Deputy Head of Specialty Lines, managing PartnerRe’s worldwide industrial Property, Energy and Engineering treaty and facultative operations.

Shankar is a Chartered Accountant with 20 years of insurance and reinsurance experience with companies both in the London market and the Gulf Cooperation Council. In addition, as a Manager at KPMG he gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in general management, financial planning and analysis, taxation and investment management, management accounting and reporting, budget preparation and control. Shankar also has particular experience of setting up FSA regulated insurance/reinsurance companies in the United Kingdom.

Christian has over 20 years of Reinsurance experience, mainly in Engineering, Property and Casualty lines of business as a pricing actuary as well as in several underwriting and managerial positions.  He was also strongly involved in various key strategic projects for Winterthur Re and PartnerRe, such as designing and implementing their respective reinsurance and management information system including underwriting profitability monitoring.  Having spent two years in Hong Kong, where he was the Pricing Actuary for the P&C, Marine and Engineering portfolios for the Asian region, he relocated back to Zurich to take over the position of the Chief Underwriting Officer for PartnerRe's non-US operations.  In that function he was most recently responsible for it's Retrocession placements, Exposure Control as well as Underwriting Guidelines and Processes.

Former Gulf Re CEO Gail Norstrom is Chief Risk Officer for Gulf Reinsurance and has nearly 40 years experience in the insurance and reinsurance industry. Prior to joining Gulf Re during its founding in February of 2008, Gail spent six years as a Managing Director in Aon’s National Property Broking Group in New York, USA where he served as the lead broker for several global insurance placements. He was also a member of the team coordinating Aon’s Terrorism Risk Management activities, acted as strategic advisor to Aon Property Risk Control organizations and oversaw Aon’s Property Benchmarking activities. Prior to joining Aon, Gail spent thirty plus years in the property insurance business, all with Industrial Risk Insurers (IRI), Hartford CT, USA. He retired in June of 2001 after eight years as President and CEO. Gail holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Tulsa as well as a M.S. from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School.  Gail splits his time between Dubai and Simsbury, CT USA.

Trevor has over 30 years of experience in the Insurance industry.  His career began in 1976 with the Eagle Star Engineering Insurance Company after gaining industry experience with a major steam turbine/boiler manufacturer in the UK. Since then he has worked in Saudi Arabia as regional engineer for Toplis and Harding and for Cigna Insurance Company in London as their international executive claims manager controlling Energy, CAR/EAR, PAR, Engineering, BI and ALOP losses worldwide.  Trevor moved to back to the Middle East in 1993 as Technical Director for Cunningham & Lindsey, a major international loss adjuster then joined GulfRe in February 2010 as Senior Vice President of Claims and Technical Services.  Trevor is a degree qualified chartered engineer having studied at Kent University and the Mid-Kent College.
